You wake up from a sound sleep. Your heart beat like horses running, hands dripping like a leaky faucet and your head spinning with thoughts that make no sense. Your chest is tight and you’re pretty sure that you’re having a heart attack. It wasn’t a heart attack though was it friend? Panic attacks are one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced. That says a lot because I’m a mom of 5.. one of which is a toddler. Life can be scary like that! haha! Anywhoo, when its all over and your mind is sort of right again, what do you do? Where do you go from that? if you’re like me, you continue to be in a state of worry for a bit. Wondering…trying to focus your thoughts on other things..keeping yourself busy so you don’t think about the panic attack or what might be wrong with you. Then, by days end.. you’re
flat exhausted from worrying and busying yourself physically. Sound familiar? Trust me when I say, I get it! Trust me when I say you are NOT alone. Not only are there millions other people dealing with anxiety and panic BUT more importantly…you’re not alone because God sees you. Just like he sees me. So where do we go from here? How do we continue to try and live a normal feeling life? It’s not easy. It’s been an 8 year journey for me but I’ve come so far. It has taken me doing intentional heart work and making intentional decisions EVERYDAY to grow and THRIVE. I fully believe that you can do it too! I fully believe that there is a living God who WANTS to show you how you can experience JOY in your journey too!
If you’re still with me, YAY!! This is where it gets good! It’s not a 12 step program and I certainly don’t have any crazy letters of credentials behind my name BUT I do have a God who has called me into a ministry
serving women like me. So, I believe that he equips me to say what needs said. Sometimes that’s as simple as sharing with you my GO-TO scriptures. Some days I have to repeat them over and over and
over again because it’s a hard day and I refuse to let the enemy win. So, even if it sounds crazy to you right now….you’ve got nothing else to lose by trying right? If you are struggling with worry or panic… it can’t possibly get
any darker can it? 😉
When you start to feel the onset of worry try this-
Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Say a simple prayer.– “Lord, i know you’re near and your plans for me are good. Help me father, bring me peace.”
Here are my go to verses for my times of trouble:
1 peter 5:7
“Cast all your anxiety upon him because he cares for you.”
” I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son. Whoever believes upon him shall not perish but will have life ever lasting.”
I will bless You at all times, Your praise will continually be in my mouth. I sought You, Lord, and You heard me, You delivered me from all my fears.
When we look to You we are radiant. Your angels encamp all around those who fear You and You deliver us. Help me to taste and see that You are
oh Lord. You say I will be blessed when I trust You. Those who seek You lack no good thing.”
Honestly, all the Psalms are SO good for fighting anxiety head on!
Like i said earlier, there is no “12 step program” per say for dealing with anxiety, worry, fear, depression or panic. That’s because it looks different for everyone. That is the exact reason we must go DIRECTLY to the one who created us all so unique. He’s the only one who knows us inside and out.
