God has been leading me through the Book of Psalms this last week or so and it’s been such a beautiful blessing to me! I had the incredible opportunity to do a teaching on anxiety last Monday to an amazing group of women! God worked through me and used my teaching to be a blessing to all those women and I didn’t want it to stop there!
So, here are my notes and tidbits from studying the Psalms and how we can use them to fight the enemy with God’s truth during anxiety and the other hard times we come up against.
Essentially, trading our worries for worship!
Psalm 3:3 – But You, O Lord-
exudes CONFIDENCE in the lord. It’s a declaration that God is our treasure (glory) and the one who lifts our heads!
Psalm 3:4 – the Lord TOTALLY hears our cries!
Psalm 3:5 – I don’t know about you but it’s not easy to sleep with anxiety or after a panic attack. Saying I lay down and slept is evidence of the Lord giving us rest even in our most troublesome times!
Psalm 3:6 – I will NOT be afraid for the Lord is is my God and protector!
Psalm 3:7 – Another declaration of Confidence! It’s boldly declaring go before me Lord!
Psalm 3:8 – Salvation (deliverance!) belongs to the Lord! He delivers us from anxiety and troubled times! His blessing is upon those who believe on him and live daily for Him. In other words, he has our backs!
Psalm 4 – We are Safe in the Lord if we stay faithful! If he has relieved us of past troubles, surely he will be faithful now!
Psalm 4:3 – God has special care for the faithful!
Psalm 4:4 – do not let anger or ANXIETY wash away your faith and trust in Christ! Get with the lord in quiet and be still. Let him fill you with his presence and peace.
Psalm 4:6 – His favor, blessings are upon us!
Psalm 4:7 – there is something much greater than full barns and over flowing grain silos. The JOY of God’s presence.
Psalm 4:8 – the peace that God gives us far more than a “relaxation technique”. It’s the kind of peace that enables an ANXIOUS person to lie down and sleep!! How wonderful!
Psalm 5- A prayer for guidance!!
Verses 1-3 + 11,12 really stuck out to me!
Getting with God in the morning when my anxiety is sometimes at its peak (as soon as I open my eyes sometimes!!) is the best thing! To sit in God’s presence and give him my worries. It’s helps me to dedicate the rest of my days’ tasks to the glory of God. It’s a great habit to be in!
If we love God, let our joy be always in him! God saves us from our own deserved destruction. He finds favor with us and protects us as a shield when we come to him!
Psalm 6 — pray the entire chapter friend!! Trust me, it’s comforting.
Psalm 7 — don’t fall forget to PRAISE him as we pray! He is our shield (as 7:10 reminds us again!)
He is the ruler of ALL nations and should be praised for his righteousness. He is the most high God! Who loves, heals, protect, restores and strengthens!
I hope you find so much HOPE and JOY in these Psalms. I did!! And do.
